Google Scholar can be especially useful in the Literature Review process because the database allows you to explore article citations.

Connecting Google Scholar to Saint Mary's Libraries

You can connect your Google Scholar account to Saint Mary's Libraries' resources. This saves time by linking you directly from your Google Scholar search results to the full article in Saint Mary’s Library. In cases where we do not have immediate access to the article, you will be directed to place an Interlibrary Loan request to obtain the item. Here’s how:

  1. Go to Google Scholar.
  2. Select the three horizontal lines (hamburger icon) Scholar Hamburger
  3. Select settingsScholar Settings
  4. Select Library links from the left sidebar.
  5. Copy and paste or type Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota into the search box and select the magnifying glass icon.
  6. Select Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota – Full Text Options – SMU.
  7. Select Save. Success! Google Scholar will now recognize your account and provide access links to resources through the Saint Mary's Libraries' resources saving you time and energy!
