Introducing a new search tool

On August 26, 2024, the Saint Mary’s Libraries launched their new discovery service, OneSearch.

OneSearch makes it easier than ever to find, request, and get library resources such as journal articles, ebooks, and print books. OneSearch provides similar functionality to the Libraries’ former discovery service, SuperSearch.

OneSearch replaces SuperSearch, but SuperSearch will continue to be available until the end of 2024, allowing faculty and students plenty of time to make the transition.

On the Libraries' home page, the search box is now OneSearch, and a link to SuperSearch is available under the search box. If you have questions about OneSearch, please contact us at lib@smumn.edu

How will this transition affect me?

This transition from SuperSearch to OneSearch is taking advantage of a product that is more aligned with the Saint Mary's Library catalog and search system. Now you can seamlessly search across all our resources (be it a book on the shelf, or an article we have electronic access to).

You may be wondering how this transition will impact your day-to-day work. We don't think the impact will be too big, as OneSearch and SuperSearch are quite similar discovery services. However, we did want to highlight a few changes that may impact your work. Some of these might be:

  • You'll need to get used to minor changes in the interface and where to look for certain functions.
  • If you have saved searches in SuperSearch that you want to retain, you'll need to save that search outside of the SuperSearch interface. This is because once we no longer have access to SuperSearch any saved searches will no longer be accessible.
  • If you have folders created and saved in SuperSearch, you'll need to download the articles or get those into a different format to retain access.

Our hope is that this guide can help in supporting all that you will need to know prior to the date at which SuperSearch will no longer be available. Please reach out to us at lib@smumn.edu with any questions.
